The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #1) by Rick Riordan

"Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus' master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.

Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus' stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves."

I know this book already has many reviews written on it already, but this was absolutely one of the best books I've read. It taught me some information about the Greek Gods and it made the learning about the Greeks more interesting and fun! It was a good way to teach teens and children, maybe even some of the adults. The writing was really descriptive and intricate, I enjoyed every part of this novel and it was one of the very few books I was amused by and appreciated reading as a novel study. The movie, on the other hand, differed from the book in certain parts and I didn't quite like it... The book felt like there was more action to me because of the descriptive details Rick Riordan portrayed and listed in the story. The movie was eh, and not one of the movies I would die to watch again. Overall, the book was a fantastic read and I'm sure many of you have already read it but I would still recommend it to those who haven't! :) Rating: 5/5
