Macbeth by William Shakespeare

Although it's not a novel or a modern piece of literature, I would strongly recommend teenagers to read or study Shakespeare's "Macbeth". For those of you who are not familiar with this famous 16th century tragedy play, it narrates a story about betrayal, a general's betrayal of the king and betrayal between friends as well. It also describes the consequences following this lack of loyalty to others. The main character, Macbeth, reflects human nature which contains greed and ambition. Despite being a four-hundred-year-old piece, I believe "Macbeth" can still connect to young adults of today's society through its plot, characters and themes.

  1. Great review!
I read Macbeth for this English assignment my class had. Its funny how we were separated in groups and each group read a different piece of Shakespeare's many works; I always imagined the whole class to read the same piece.

    4. I guess it's not so bad. My whole class loved it, but my teacher said that her other classes hate it and I always wondered why. Although we did do this whole project on Shakespeare before we read any of his works, so I suppose that helped. We also had a test that’s supposed to show how much we know about understanding Shakespeare’s work, so a lot of what we knew became skills we needed for the test.
