We All Fall Down by Eric Walters

Will, a grade nine student, is to spend a day with his father’s workplace as a school assignment – all students are to go to their parent’s workplaces. But Will isn’t looking forward to it – his father hardly spends any time with him and basically devotes himself to his work making Will feel that his father won’t even bother to make time for him although they are supposed to be spending the day together. Will’s dad’s office is on the 85th floor of the south building of the World Trade Center in Manhattan, working for an international trading company.

Together, father and son share a terrifying experience as a plane crashes into their tower and creates a fire that tears apart the World Trade Center but builds their understanding and mutual respect, and strengthens the bonds between them.
