I usually love Rick Riordan, but this book wasn't one of his best. It was so unoriginal. How many books can you write where the world is about to end? Two kids save the world, battling monsters along the way. He already did the Lightning Thief and the Lost Hero, and now this? The storyline has already been taken!
I felt like the book was very rushed. They go into battle from the first page- the action wasn't well paced.
It's also very unconvincing and unrealistic. I always find that the characters make miraculous recoveries. This would never happen. Even with the magic powers; this could never happen. The characters don't seem 13 and 14. Riordan did an amazing job with the Lightning Thief, making the story sound as if it was coming from a 12 year old boy. I couldn't see that in this book. In the Throne of Fire, it was as if an adult was speaking, trying to sound like a teenager.
However, the story is extremely well written (much better than the Red Pyramid) and it's downright hilarious. It is enjoyable, but has quite a few flaws.
