The Red Pyramid - Rick Riordan

I loved the Lightning Thief. I loved the writing, the plot, the characters, the mood; I loved everything. I did not like the Red Pyramid. At all. I feel like Rick Riordan had one success, so he decided to make 10 more book series based on the same idea. But all the other book series were horrible. There's the Lost Hero, and the Red Pyramid, I don't know what else. They are all based on Greek Mythology and they all sucks. So the Red Pyramid;

Since their mother's death, Carter and Sadie have become near strangers. While Sadie has lived with her grandparents in London, her brother has traveled the world with their father, the brilliant Egyptologist, Dr. Julius Kane. One night, Dr. Kane brings the siblings together for a "research experiment" at the British Museum, where he hopes to set things right for his family. Instead, he unleashes the Egyptian god Set, who banishes him to oblivion and forces the children to flee for their lives.  Soon, Sadie and Carter discover that the gods of Egypt are waking, and the worst of them —Set— has his sights on the Kanes. To stop him, the siblings embark on a dangerous journey across the globe - a quest that brings them ever closer to the truth about their family and their links to a secret order that has existed since the time of the pharaohs.

First, there's the switching point of view thing. That could have been an okay idea, if it was done well. But the way the book is written it's confusing as hell and brings down the whole book a couple notches in my eyes. It should have been just Sadie, or just Carter the whole time.

The plot is already used! I liked the "kid has to save mom" idea in the Lightning Thief, but you can't just use it twice! It was boring. The whole plot was absolutely meaningless. The characters bored me to tears. I hated it all. Don't read it!
