Summary: In the final weeks of eighth grade, Lauren Wood made a choice. She betrayed her best friend, Helen, in a manner so publicly humiliating that Helen had to move to a new town just to save face. Ditching Helen was worth it, though, because Lauren started high school as one of the It Girls--and now, at the start of her senior year, she's the cheer leading captain, the quarterback's girlfriend, and the undisputed queen bee. Lauren has everything she's ever wanted, and she has forgotten all about her ex-best friend.
But Helen could never forget Lauren. After three years of obsessing, she's moving back to her old town. She has a new name and a new look, but she hasn’t dropped her old grudges. She has a detailed plan to bring down her former BFF by taking away everything that's ever been important to Lauren—starting with her boyfriend.
Review:
This book was hilarious, it was so funny in my opinion. Helen the main character went to legit drastic measures in getting her revenge. She changed her entire look, name, everything in order to get revenge. When you see the cover of this book you automatically think that this is just another one of those, cheesy, popularity books. Although in this particular book Helen, the revenge seeker, already knew all the ins and out to popularity, way ahead of the game. She was able to use that knowledge to play her cards flawlessly from day one. Helen's imagination had me on the floor laughing at times, she took revenge tactics to a whole new, and slightly scary level. The writing in this book was fast-paced and always got right to the point, but honestly in this book, I didn't really pay any attention to the writing techniques. You probably want to know about Lauren right? Well she wasn't nice in anyway, whatsoever, which was good I never wanted to feel bad for her, because she was generally not a good person. Although I still wanted Helen to let go of her three year grudge, and live her life, even if her revenge plots were pretty much die-hard hilarious. All in all "Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood," was a bitingly humorous novel with an amazing plot, and an extremely unforgiving protagonist, dedicated in her pursuit against evil. Read this book if your ready for a laugh.
This seems so scary, but I cannot believe that this novel is hilarious!
