Blog Update

The NEW Teen Reading club blog will start on October 1st. The blog will have a new look and at this time we will announce how the club will run throughout the school year. In the meantime, let us know what you are reading.
At the moment, I’m reading Seraphina, it’s amazing! What’s not to love, dragons disguised as humans? And the forbidden love of a prince and a half-dragon…tragic! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not mushy and although the protagonist is a girl, I think it has enough guy appeal. Bendavis, I think you may like this one, it’s NOT paranormal, it’s fantasy. The best part? It’s written by a Canadian, who lives in Vancouver. But read it for yourself and see if you agree.
Oh, the other book I’m reading is Insignia. It’s World War III only the war is fought in virtual reality and by teens. Not bad, but no Ender’s Game.

  1. I've read Ender's Game, but Pathfinder has to be my fav Orson Scott Card book XD

I might try Seraphina - but as always I've got alot of other stuff I want to read as well - for example I just tried Clive Cussler and found that I absolutely love his work

  2. I've been dying to get my hands on a copy of "Seraphina" ever since I saw the millions of positive reviews flowing in. I'm imagining a more action-packed fantasy-romance than usual, and c'mon, dragons. I mean, who could resist dragons? Curious, is there a copy avaliable at the library (e-book works too), because the last time I checked, I couldn't find it. ):

Just finished, "A Monster Calls" by Patrick Ness. The book was amazing, and the artwork certainly wasn't close behind. I'm debating between "Battle Royale" by Koushun Takami (apparently, it's like a more gorey version of the Hunger Games) and "Watchers" by Dean Koontz, as per your suggestion. :)

Choices, choices, although I'll probably read "Watchers" first, since it's due sooner. XD

    2. I wrote a review on the site awhile ago actually. :D

It was really good, the only real problem I had was that it was a little random. I know that the randomness had a purpose, as it was symbolic, but it took me away from the creepiness of the atmosphere. I still flew through it though, it was written well and I liked that the characters were real. My favorite character was maybe White or Leslie (I think that was her name, the one with Pete and his dog food) It was good creepy. :) Definitely one of the better books I've read this summer, and I have some decently high standards. XD

BTW, did you ever watch the movie? Completely different, and Susan is a lot creppier than she was in the book. :O

  4. Hi Ashley,
At the moment all the copies of Seraphina are out, but more are on their way and should get here soon. No e-book at the moment, BUT there is an audiobook of it. I listened to it and it is great. I know I've said it before, but if you've never tried an audiobook you should, they're great and a great way to jump the que!
