Forbes Magazine has just published its list of the authors who made the most money this year. You may ask "This year? Not over their entire lifetime?" once you see the figures below, but, believe me, each author did indeed make all that money THIS YEAR (and this is ONLY the money they made off stuff relating to their books - not investments, etc.).
To the list:
- E.L. James - $95 million
- James Patterson - $91 million
- Suzanne Collins - $55 million
- Bill O'Reilly - $28 million
- Danielle Steel - $26 million
- Jeff Kinney - $24 million
- Janet Evanovich - $24 million
- Nora Roberts - $23 million
- Dan Brown - $22 million
- Stephen King - $20 million
- Dean Koontz - $20 million
- John Grisham - $18 million
- David Baldacci - $15 million
- Rick Riordan - $14 million
- J.K. Rowling - $13 million
- George R.R. Martin - $12 million

Who is E. L. James and how in the world does he make $95 million in a year???!!!
ReplyDeleteSHE is the woman who wrote the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.
ReplyDeleteThe books started as a twilight fanfiction called Master of the Universe. Probably the most scandalous series of the year - steamy romance full of... twisted scenes of scoodly-pooping (to use polite terms). Read the article and you'll see what I mean. The majority of her money came from ebook sales, as ebooks make for more... discreet... reading. She also, of course, got money from hardcopy sales and a chunk of change from a movie adaptation that's being developed as we speak.
